Protect the health of your digestive track with probiotics and fiber

Gut health refers to the health of your digestive system.  Research shows that a healthy gut contributes to a robust immune system and may help prevent certain cancers and diseases.

Many microorganisms are living inside our digestive tract, some of them may be harmful to our health, but many are incredibly beneficial.

When you eat a diet high in processed foods and sugars, you may get disturbances such as an upset stomach, gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, problem sleeping, fatigue, eczema, etc., which are all symptoms of an unhealthy gut. There have even been some studies linking food allergies.

Some of the best ways to help the health of your digestive system are to take a prebiotic or probiotic supplement. These types of supplements add beneficial bacteria to the gut. Probiotics are live beneficial bacteria.  However, it’s important to discuss this with your doctor before starting a program.

Other things to do that support gut health include staying hydrated by drinking water throughout the day, eating more slowly (which helps your body to absorb nutrients), eating a clean diet — good quality whole grains, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats and fish, ignoring processed and packaged foods whenever possible.
