Easy, Breezy Weekend Getaways to revitalize and refresh

Weekends are a time to vacate — even if for a day. "A weekend getaway can boost your emotional and mental health," says Jonathan Alpert, a Manhattan-based psychotherapist, executive performance coach and author of “Be Fearless: Change Your Life in 28 Days." California offers some amazing locales with a variety of landscapes and views. Check out these four fabulous easy-to-get-to getaways for SoCal residents:

Santa Barbara– Whether it’s a walk on the beach with the dramatic Santa Ynez mountains as a backdrop, a dip in the ocean, a slice of California mission history, fabulous downtown shopping or a host of Zagat-rated restaurants, you’ll find Santa Barbara delivers, and it’s just a just under two-hour drive from Los Angeles.

Lake Arrowhead– If you're long for a quaint and cozy Alpine getaway by the water,  Lake Arrowhead delivers. About an hour and thirty-minute ride from Los Angeles, Lake Arrowhead offers an array of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, and features a historic town center, a world-class resort, and a host of charming rentable cabins in the woods. For serious ski lovers, Big Bear is just 45 minutes away.

Palm Springs– Surrounded by gorgeous, majestic mountains, and known for its world-famous resorts, healing springs, fantastic golfing, award-winning restaurants, excellent shopping, and its arts and cultural scene, this little slice of heaven is just under a two-hour drive from Los Angeles. It’s no wonder why for years it has been a celebrity playground.

Temecula – A blend of history (Old  Town Temecula) and contemporary lifestyle with its popular Wine Country resort destinations, an arts-entertainment-shopping district with a famous culinary scene, this hour and a half ride from Los Angeles, is the perfect weekend or day trip for a family adventure or romantic outing.
